Wiel Arets
Wiel Arets, born 1955 in Heerlen established Wiel Arets Architect & Associates in 1984 after graduating from the TU Eindhoven in 1983. From 1986 to 1989 he taught at the Architectural Academies of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, from 1988 to 1992 he was a visiting teacher of the Diploma Unit at the AA London, from 1991 to 1994 he was visiting professor at Columbia University and the Cooper Union in New York. Furthermore he taught at the Berlage Institute Amsterdam, the HAK Vienna and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. From 1995 to 2002 he was dean of the Berlage Institute Rotterdam where he also directed the PhD programme until 2004. Since 2001 he holds the Berlage chair at the Technical University Delft. In 2004 he accepted the professorship at the UDK Berlin.
