MENU INTRODUCES A LIMITED EDITION THERMO CUP - INSPIRED BY THE HIGHLY FASHIONABLE PATTERNS KNOWN FROM NORDIC KNITS. THE KNIT SWEATERS ARE MUST-HAVES FROM SEVERAL FASHION HOUSES THIS SEASON, AND NOW FOR THE FIRST TIME THE KNIT PATTERNS MAKE THEIR ENTRANCE ON COOL THERMO CUPS.
The Scandinavians have a legacy as great fishermen as well as skillful creators of iconic design including unique local knitted crafts. Now, MENU introduces a limited edition of the award-winning MENU Black Contour thermo cup - inspired by this legacy.
The Nordic knit sweaters were hot in the 70s and again this season the knits have emerged on runways in Milan and Paris and on several Hollywood celebrities.
Designer Pernille Vea has designed four cups, all taking their charming looks from patterns of the Nordic knitted sweaters.
“I found my inspiration in the sweaters made from unspun woolen fibers going all the way back to the 19th century. Women from the local villages created different unique patterns - each pattern making a trademark of that specific region and a way of proudly displaying the fisherman’s heritage,” explains designer Pernille Vea.
She has reinvented her award-winning thermo cup with four patterns inspired from the knits:
A pattern originating from the charming Bohus in Sweden.
A pattern coming from the small island Sejeroe in Denmark.
A pattern paying homage to the amazing Svalbard in Norway.
A pattern honoring the beautiful Faroe Islands.
”Today again, the patterns are highly popular in knitwear from runways to private knitters - all of them still very different from one another but true to the Nordic tradition. This is the first time the patterns have been used on porcelain - creating a whole new look,” says Pernille Vea.
