As the name "TRAPEZOID" suggests, Naoto Fukasawa had the image of a trapezoid form in rotation. So, the bezel is cut steeply, and a tachymeter is provided on it. Numbers are proportioned like speed limits painted on a road surface - stretched in height to be readable normally when viewed from the front, despite their steep angles around the circumference. It's a familiar scene and effect, and the designer used it now in combination with chronograph functions. In the same way, fashion and motorsports are unified via the use of strong colour contrasts; for example, yellow number against a red face, and yellow-green against a blue face.
Features:
Seemingly mysterious numbers are engraved around the side of the bezel. This is a tachymeter. Using the scale on the bezel and the chronograph hand, you can determine the average speed of a vehicle by measuring the time required to run 1 km.
The side view is that of a typical trapezoid. The horns of the case to attach the band have a delicate angle that facilitates comfort and allows a good fit even for people with small wrists.
The watch is included in a watch box that mimics it's trapezoidal shape.
The face looks like a cockpit instrument panel, and has been carefully crafted to be easy to read. Some numbers on the side of the bezel are written upside down, but they too, are easy to read normally when looked at from the top. This is the mature wit of Mr. Fukasawa, a master when it comes to designing fantastic watches.
