Set of two dishcloths in microfibre with foam core for Eva Solo Dishcloth with Stand.
|
The dishcloth has now been reinvented as a beautiful and functional design object
The redefined dishcloth distinguishes itself from a traditional dishcloth in several ways. The dishcloth is cylindrical and made of microfibre with an absorbent foam core. This material enables the cloth to unfold after use – and thereby stand upright without being supported. The cloth comes with an elegant stand in matt polished stainless steel which the cloth can rest on when it is not being used.
Dealing with an outcast
A dishcloth tends to smell and look filthy – no matter how often you change it. The fact that the dishcloth is usually seen as an outcast has served as a source of inspiration for the two designers behind the new dishcloth:
“For a dishcloth to be functional it must be damp, but it also has to dry quickly after use to prevent it from becoming a smelly hotbed for bacteria. So, for a dishcloth to dry quickly, it must either hang or be able to stand upright by itself. We were therefore faced with the challenge of finding a material and a shape which enables the cloth to dry quickly while also retaining its functionality,” says Claus Jensen, who designed the new Eva Solo dishcloth with his partner at Tools Design, Henrik Holbæk.
“Like the pot holder, which we redesigned in silicone, the dishcloth is another neglected everyday item. Our aim has been to reinvent the dishcloth with new and improved functionality while making it attractive to look at,” says Claus Jensen.
The new Eva Solo dishcloth offers perfect synergies between form and functionality – and you no longer have to worry about a dishcloth tainting the appearance of your kitchen.
