The new carafe has a graceful shape with a stainless steel insert in the top. The mouth of the carafe is intentionally wide to facilitate tapping Bag-In-Box wine into the carafe. At the same time, the insert has a sharp rim which in effect ‘cuts’ the remaining drops, preventing drips and stains when serving. The insert and the shape of the carafe also mean that the wine is decanted when transferring the wine from the box to the carafe.
Wine is no longer just sold in bottles. Today, many wine-lovers buy Bag-In-Box wine. This is a practical solution which also avoids the need to deal with empty bottles which have to be taken to the bottle bank. However, serving Bag-In-Box wine does not offer the same sense of occasion as pouring wine from a bottle, and it can be hard to keep an eye on how much wine is being consumed. The Bag-In-Box carafe is a drip-free bottle which fits neatly in the fridge and can be placed directly on the table.
