Wall clock in ABS, grey. Quartz movement.
|
“Walter Wayle II” is a thermoplastic wall clock, designed by Philippe Starck in 1990, which was first introduced into the Alessi catalogue the same year, and is now available in its original colour, charcoal grey. The “Walter Wayle II” clock consists solely of the two hands which turn in the empty space of the wall, telling the time. It was a sensation when it was first produced and Alessi has decided to put it back into production today, fine-tuning the production technology to achieve the perfect balance of the heavy hands. The imprecise geometry of the shape of the hand, a little leaf-like, a little wing-like, accentuates the sense of freedom compared to the idea we had of the measuring of time, which is strictly accurate. The hands are made of thermoplastic resin and cover the battery operated quartz movement completely. The mechanism is secured to the wall with a support sized so that the hands are free to move, just a few millimetres from the wall.
