The shapes conceived by the brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec making up the “Ovale” series can be defined as regular, despite a certain irregularity in symmetry, because they convey a particular sense of stability, completeness and simplicity. The rectangular shapes have rounded corners, almost forming a parallelepiped. The “Ovale” series is made using three materials (stoneware, glass and stainless steel) selected according to the functional characteristics of the objects, but which enhance the series thanks to their additional sensory appeal. The Glasses, made of crystalline glass, were devised as a goblet resting on a wide, stable truncated cone-shaped base: a kind of tumbler raised above the surface of the table. Even the shape of the Glasses confirms the sense of the everydayand the simplicity of the other items in this series.
