“Cronotime” is a table top thermoplastic clock designed by Pio Manzù in 1966, which was first introduced into the Alessi catalogue in 1988 and is now available in black and orange. This is how E. Frateili described it: "This battery operated clock, originally designed as a gift-item for Fiat (and which was later put into production for Ritz-Italora in 1968), both the essence of the instrument and a toy at the same time, presents that constant essential line, simplicity and affordability which have marked the brief and intensive work of this designer on a theme of a much wider scale: The car…" The shape of “Cronotime” is toric (part of a circular section ring) totalling a 1/6 of circumference (1), the shape in turn separated into two equal parts which swivel (2) allowing you to modulate the direction in which the dial is pointing with respect to the support surface. The dial is in turn free to turn so that you can direct the direction in which the digits are read whatever the rotation of the clock body. The movement of the “Cronotime” is quartz and it is battery operated.
